Senior Legal Counsel (FTC)
Responsibilities
· Providing advice and support to the Operations and Maintenance Team and the Commercial Team in the management of ongoing O&M and EPC contract arrangements (including advising on arrangements for repair of the interconnector during the defect liability period)
· Providing legal support to the O&M team in relation to support contracts and repair contracts required for the ongoing maintenance of the asset
· Providing legal support in relation to grid connection arrangements, property instruments and land access arrangements for the converter station sites and land cable routes
· Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements including supplier agreements, agreements governing the delivery and maintenance of the company’s IT systems and services, consultancy agreements, agreements with energy trading companies
· Providing legal support in relation to agreements in place (or to be put in place) between ElecLink and the Transmission System Operators and ElecLink and its customers
· Providing legal support in relation to agreements necessary for the auction and sale of interconnector capacity
· Assisting the Head of Legal with company secretarial matters
· Liaising with the wider business to provide ad-hoc legal advice
· Assisting with the management of external legal counsel and management of ongoing disputes and litigation
· Assisting with the management of confidential information and intellectual property, compliance with applicable legislative regimes, management of existing/future third party supplier T&Cs and curtailment of the Company’s liability, and ongoing regulatory reporting
· Occasionally, there may be business trips to Folkestone site

Minimum Standards & Selection Criteria
Ideally you will be coming from an in-house team at a leading multi-national engineering, construction or energy company, or from private practice, with a minimum of 4 years PQE. Relevant experience is required in contract drafting and management, claims management and experience in dispute resolution and company secretarial matters would be beneficial. Good knowledge or industry exposure to technical systems, solutions and services for the transmission and distribution of electrical power is beneficial but not essential.
The role will require working directly with the Head of Legal to gain understanding of the current workplan and future requirements, plus close collaboration with operations and maintenance, construction, commercial and financial colleagues.
We will work with the right candidate in determining core hours to suit both parties – some occasional travel to Folkestone or within Europe may be required, with advance notification of the business need.

This is a fixed-term contract position with an immediate start available. The contract will run until March 2027.
